   Slide Notes

NYSDOT has been a leader in encouraging transportation organizations throughout the state to integrate improvements for walking and bicycling. It is important to understand that NYSDOT is only responsible for approximately 10% of the road miles in the state, and that many of the streets and facilities in our communities are managed by local departments of public works and other organizations. At the same time, it is important for NYSDOT to be a leader, and this message will help local organizations recognize the importance of bicycling and walking as part of New York's transportation infrastructure.
